What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one major component of Oriental Medicine in which fine needles are inserted into specific points in the body. Acupuncture points are selected based on their ability to stimulate the body’s own natural healing mechanisms through the physiological response to the insertion of the acupuncture needle. The needle insertion stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals into the brain, spinal cord, and muscles. Acupuncture can be used to enhance immunity and to support both physical and emotional well-being. Acupuncture is a safe and effective way to treat a wide range of medical conditions.

What is Herbal Medicine?

Herbal medicine is the practice of using a vast pharmacopeia of plants, minerals and animal products. Much of the herbal pharmacopeia has been used for centuries in Asia. Just as the development of acupuncture used vast human trials, the development of herbal medicine was also based on detailed observation of the effect each herb has on the human body. Chinese herbal formulas are developed as synergistic combinations of herbs that strengthen therapeutic properties of the herbs while reducing any unwanted side effects. Herbal formulas can be administered as pills, tablets, powdered extracts, and dried raw herbs. The dried raw herbs require ‘decoction’ by boiling with water and then drinking the tea. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are often used together as complementary therapeutic modalities.

Chinese herbal medicine has been practiced safely and effectively for centuries and has the greatest potential for beneficial results when prescribed under the supervision of a trained professional who is fully informed of the benefits and risks

What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping therapy is an ancient Chinese form of  alternative medicine which a local suction is created on the skin; practitioners believe this mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing. Suction is created using heat (fire) or mechanical devices (hand or electrical pumps).
